KC RoyalsFamily tours the new Kauffman Stadium

By: Corey

Last Spring, our mom signed me and my brother up for the Blue Crew for the Royals. In the package that we received 2 weeks later was Gift Certificates to Dicks Sporting Goods, Denney’s, and there were four tickets to go on a tour of Kauffman Stadium.

My dad, sister, brother, and I went on the tour and when we got there we were miserable. Because we had to wait in the ticket room because the tour guide was so slow and forgot about the 10:00 tour. So, the security guard went and reminded the Tour Guide that there was a tour and she came out and took us into where the announcer sits during the games and we saw the microphone that he uses to talk all over the whole stadium. Then, she took us to the George Brett room. That’s where people sit during games and they can eat as much food as they possibly can and still have a good view of the field. Then, we went into the Hall of Fame. They have a display case that has George Brett, Dick Howser, and Frank White’s Jersey in it. The next room had a video that played about the history of the Royals. Then, they had a whole room of display cases of Score Cards of games. Next, we went to the Outfield Experience that has a little field for kids that want to play during games, a 9 hole Mini Golf Course, a kids gift shop, a Carousel, and a lot more fun stuff. Then, the tour guide took us down to the Royals dugout. The dugout was my favorite part when we got to go out onto the field. Then, the people spraying down the seats got us soaked. Next, we went into the Interview room where the team manager goes and gets interviewed after the games. After that, she took us through the Gift Shop and we got a Royals Yearbook with game stats, posters, and other stuff talking about the 2009 season. Then, we walked out the door and went to the car. On the way to the car, my dad found a 20 dollar bill in the parking lot next to our car. We got in the car and went home.

Christmas at My Grandma’s House

Narrator: When Corey gets to his grandmas house for Christmas, he plays with his cousins.

Corey: When is lunch going to be ready grandma?

Grandma: In a few minutes.

Corey: (Walking out of the room) Ok

Carson: Hey, do you want to go outside and play baseball?

Grandma: No guy’s, lunch is ready!

Narrator: (Corey and his family walked in the kitchen and got their plates full of food and went into the Dining Room). (After dinner was over all the kids went outside to play basketball).

Dustin: I bet you that if you make the goal go all the way up I will still be able to dunk the ball.

Narrator: Soon after Casey raised the goal Dustin ran up to the goal and dunked it. Then, they started playing Nock Out and right after we started Cody got Connor out.

Breanna: I quit! Let’s play Hide and go seek.

Narrator: When we started, Casey was it first and he counted to 150. Every body ran as fast as they could towards the bushy tree that they always climb.

Carson: (Screaming) He’s coming.

Narrator: So they all ran towards the base. (But then ditched Casey and went inside to open presents).

Corey: Grandma, can we open presents yet?

Grandma: I don’t care go ahead.

Narrator: Everybody went into the living room (but then realized that Casey was outside so they go outside looking for him. They finally find him and then they go back inside to take pictures together) and then they started opening presents and when they were done, they started playing with what they got.

Carson: Hey everybody lets play Rock Band!

Narrator: Carson, Cody, Dustin, and Corey started playing Rock Band and of course Cody won the song just because he was using the microphone and the microphone is like one of the easiest instruments to play on Rock Band. Then, grandma walked in the room.

Grandma: Dinner is ready!

Jessica: What is there to eat?

Grandma: Left Over’s from Lunch.

Jessica: Ok

Narrator: So everybody went to the kitchen and got dinner and then Casey, Cody, and Carson had to leave because they had baseball games the next day. They said good bye to everybody and left. Then, we started helping her with her 1,000 piece puzzle. An hour later Jessica, Dustin, and Breanna left to go back home.

Aunt Brenda: Bye guys, we have to go.

Mom: Corey, we have to get home.

Corey: Grandma, we have to get home.

Grandma: Ok.

Narrator: We left grandmas house at about 9:00 and headed home.

A week with my aunt

Every summer we get to go down and spend a week with our Aunt Kathy and our Uncle Mike. They always take us to a special place, and this year they took us to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. But, we didn’t go all day; we just went at 5 o’clock when the tickets are half price.

So, when we got there it ended up being like 86 Degrees outside. The first thing that we did was ride the Barn Swing that swings you strait up in the air and then it drops you and then it swings you the other way strait up. It was so scary that like every single person on the ride was either Screaming or laughing so hard. Next, we did the ride that you have to pull on a rope to get to the top so you could win the awesome race. After that, we went to ride Wildfire! I was so scared, I really didn’t want to ride it but then my Aunt said it would be so fast that you wouldn’t have time to be scared. So we got to the front of the and there was a sign that said Turn here to ride in the front seat. So, we decided to ride in the front seat. We sat down in our seat and I said I have to Pee! We got to the top of the hill and when we went down the drop I peed my pants.

When we got off Wildfire we went to ride Boomerang. It was so fun when you go down the big drop it looks like your going to hit your head on one of the bars. Then we rode the Pater keg. That’s a ride that shoots you a cannon and it feels like you’re going 100 MPH. It was done so fast that I wanted to ride it again but the line was to long and we didn’t want to wait that long again! When we got out of that ride, we saw our Uncle talking to one of his friends that he used to work with when he worked for the railroad. He probably talked to him for about 45 minutes and by the time he got done talking to him they came on the intercom and said: Sorry folks Silver Dollar City closes in 20 minutes. So Connor wanted to ride the American Plunger. That ride is kind of Viking Voyager at Worlds of Fun that drops you into the water. When we got off that ride I was so frustrated at Connor, I was so Freezing Cold when we got in the Car. I had to get new shoes because they were soaked and they started stinking. I bet that water was about 45 degrees!

We finally got back so we had to pick up my Aunts American Bull Dog from my cousins house and I was asleep and the first thing that dog did when it got in the car was lick my face to death! That was a pleasant thing to wake up to! When we got back to my Aunts House she made us Orange Freezes exactly how Steak and Shake makes them. Then I went to bed because it was like one in the morning when we got to her house. At about 6 AM her dog Abby ran into my bedroom and licked my face to death again! I got so mad at her, but I couldn’t get back to sleep so I got up and I made Breakfast. I made Eggs, Bacon, and Toast. It smelled so good that Connor and everybody else came in and ate it all. Then we went outside my cousins horse Keeper. There were some people my cousin works with and they came out to my Aunts house to run the horse so he could lose a little weight. We ended up riding him 3 times before we left to go back home. Then, that night we went to eat at Cici’s pizza. Connor ate about 16 Cinnamon breadsticks! Now that’s just plain ridicules. The next night, we ate at Fazolis. Connor and I both probably ate 10 breadsticks.

The next night, we went to Springfield Cardinals baseball game. We sat in the “Red Bird Roost”. That is a section that all the food from the concession stand is completely FREE! I had 5 Hot Dogs, 2 Nachos, Popcorn, and a Cookie. But, sadly the Cardinals lost to the Tulsa Drillers 4-2. I was so stuffed that I couldn’t even eat breakfast in the morning. The next day we had to go home. So, we spent the whole day packing and then my Aunt and Uncle took us to Clinton, Missouri. Then, we ate at a Mexican Restaurant and went home. It was about 9:00 PM when we finally got back home. I had so much fun at my Aunt Kathy’s house last summer and I really look forward to going back to her house next summer.

North to Alaska

After school on the last day of school in 2nd grade, I was watching National Treasure. When the movie was over, my mom got home and told me that my grandparents were going to Alaska over the summer and wanted us to come with them. I screamed and went and packed my bags really fast. A week later, we packed everything in motor home and left the next day.
When we finally got on the road, we drove about 5 miles down the rode and my grandma realized that she forgot her purse. So we turned around and headed back to her house to get her purse. Then, she got her purse and we were on the road to Alaska. The first night we stayed in WaKeeney, Kansas. We were so excited to get out of that RV and ride our scooters. But, when we got to the Campground the streets there were just gravel. Then, we just got in the heated pool and hot tub. When we got back to the RV, we ate dinner, played cards and went to bed.
The next day, my grandma and my mom went to the office to check out and we were on the road for the 2nd day. That night we stayed in Kimball, Nebraska. That campground also had a pool but it also had a playground. The playground had a Volleyball court and a swing. The next morning, we were out in the middle of no where in an RV driving with nothing to do. But, we stopped somewhere in Wyoming to stay for the night. That campground had absolutely nothing but empty camper lots. It was so boring at that place that we found a walking trail that led to a Gift Shop. We looked around and went back to the camper and went to bed. The next morning, my mom made a huge breakfast. She made bacon, pancakes, oatmeal, and toast. When we were all done eating, we put the table away and left. That day, we had driven through Utah and ended up in Boise, Idaho. That was probably the best Campground I have ever seen! That had a heated pool, a hot tub, paved roads, and they even had nice bathrooms! We were so happy that we got to finally ride our scooters. But the place had only been open for a month.
The next day we drove through Oregon and ended up staying at Grant Phillips house in Worthington, Washington. He worked with my grandpa when he lived in Alaska. We stayed there for about 3 days and the 2nd night Grant came out to our camper and asked if we wanted to go to his friend’s house to eat. We ended up decided to go but that was a HUGE mistake. When we got to these peoples house she opened the door and greeted us. Her name was Pat and her husbands name was Don. When my grandma walked by Pat she said “I made a Strawberry Short cake for dinner so you can put on the table.” Pat took the Strawberry Short cake into the kitchen and told Grant to come into the kitchen. When Grant walked in the kitchen, even though my grandma made a Strawberry Short cake, Pat made another one with Grant. They put the movie March of the Penguins in the TV so grandma wouldn’t go into the kitchen. That movie was so boring because all it was penguins walking around. There wasn’t one word said in that movie! Then, it was time for dinner. Pat had got a supreme pizza from Costco and it looked so disgusting that our mom, Connor, and I did not eat the pizza at all. After dinner, Pat took us outside and showed us this RV that looked like it was larger than a school bus. I mean that could be a house for how big that was. But, I wouldn’t want and RV like that because the shower door in there is just a regular piece of glass you can see right through. Then, Don showed us his work shop that was huge and that had all this machinery inside of the work shop. Then, we went back to Grants house. When we got there we were sitting in the camper and I realized that grandma was so mad that she through her Strawberry Short cake over the pasture fence.
The next day we stayed somewhere in British Columbia, Canada. That next morning, we started driving on the Alaska Highway. That is probably the worst highway I have ever ridden on ever. It was pretty much gravel because they have to do road construction every year. One time, we ran over this huge pot whole that my seat belt almost came loose. Then, we went to the Hot Springs in Canada that has a trail that is about ¾ of a mile to the water. Then, when we left there, we had to go trough customs to go into Alaska.
When we got out of Customs, we started driving towards Tok, Alaska. We stayed at a campground that people come in and sings about Alaska every night. Next, we headed for Fairbanks, Alaska. When we got to the campground there, we went to this place that you could mine for gold. When the employee was weighing the gold to see how much it was worth I found out that I got $18.00 in gold. Then we were on the road to Anchorage, Alaska.
We were about half way there and we saw this huge mountain so we pulled over. Then, we saw a sign that said that the mountain was called Denali A.K.A Mt. McKinley. ( The tallest mountain in North America). Then, we saw a glacier that was called Worthington Glacier. We pulled over to look at it and saw that there were people climbing it so we started to climb the glacier. It was like all ice so if we slipped we would fall and die. Then, for some odd reason my sister slipped and the ice ripped through her pants and underwear. The whole way back to the RV she was holding her hand over her pants. Next, we went to another one of my grandpa’s friend’s house in Anchorage. His name has Helgi Persson. He said that there was an Ice Skating Rink at the mall in Anchorage so we went and skated and it was so awesome. But, it kind of hurt because I kept falling on my but. Then we started driving toward Homer, Alaska. That is where Grant Phillips son lives. They live in a little Trailer House next to a little river. We stayed there a few days and ate dinner there. Then, we started driving home. We went through Northern Territory, Canada, B.C., Canada, Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, and Kansas on the way home. It was so fun that I hope we get to go back to Alaska for the 3rd time.
THAT WAS A TRUE STORY!
